How will you celebrate #MedComms day?

Hi Reader

What are you doing for #MedComms Day? It’s this Wednesday (14th June) in case you haven’t heard!

I’ll be going to the MedComms Networking weekly webinar ‘MedComms: Future directions’ at noon UK time, and there are loads of other events listed on the website, including lots online but also some IRL.

#MedComms Day always feels poignant for me as it coincides with my MedComms-iversary.

This month I’m celebrating 19 years in MedComms, and I’m reflecting on my whole career as I write the presentation introducing the industry that I’ll be giving at the University of Birmingham Medical School on Thursday 22nd June.

Anyone interested in a career in MedComms would benefit from attending this event.

After my presentation there will be a session from Hannah Leeper from Zenopa, followed by Q&A sessions with medical writers and account managers. Teams from 12 different agencies are also attending so you can hear all about what they do and how they support new starters. Get all the details here.

If you can’t make it to the event, you might be interested in my new YouTube playlist ‘Get your first MedComms job’ – a handy collection of all my videos to help you get your MedComms career to a flying start.

I’ll add to it whenever I release a relevant video, and the one that came out yesterday covers my top microtips to boost your medical writing skills.

It’s basically a free sneak peek at the content from my course on the basics of good medical writing, and if you download the free PDF summary, you can get a 50% discount via the embedded link.

This will be really worthwhile as I’m planning updates later this year. Once these are released, I’ll be putting the price up. If you buy the course now, you’ll have lifetime access, including any future updates – without having to pay more. Winner!

All the best

It shouldn't just be the agencies that have all the...

Hi Reader I am thrilled to announce that I am taking over the management of the MedComms Workbook service for freelancers in MedComms from its founder, Peter Llewellyn. We’re working together closely during the transition, and both hope it will go from strength to strength. As part of this transition, we’ve launched a community on the Heartbeat platform for the Workbook subscribers. This online space is dedicated to fostering connections, sharing knowledge, and supporting freelancers. You can...

Hi Reader Had you heard of MedComms when you were 15? I certainly hadn't! I've had a request from a school in London asking for a work experience opportunity in the spring/summer for a Year 10 student who is keen to become a medical writer. If you work for an agency based in London that might be able to help, please let me know! If you're actually hoping to start your own MedComms career but are a little beyond Year 10 work experience, you might find the First MedComms Job event at the...
